You are viewing a live picture
of downtown San Diego from across San Diego Bay. The palm trees below are on Shelter Island, a man made island built up by dredging in 1934. Just past the water line is Balboa Park (a bunch of trees in the middle, left of the buildings
on the wider shot). The airplanes flying over the city and moving to the
left (north west) are approaching Lindberg Field to land. They will
usually reverse direction during a strong Santa Ana wind. You can sometimes see snow
off in the distance on Mt. Laguna
during a clear winter day.
Watch for wild parrots in the trees or flying past the camera. Point Loma & Ocean Beach have a loud bunch of them.
The rumor is that an old lady's house was burning down one night, so they
let all her birds out to save them. It seems like a good enough
story so that's the one we're sticking to.
The close-up view is showing just to the right (south) of the wider
picture, more towards the busy down town area (the Broadway Pier and the
Embarcadero). You are listening to
KFMB-FM 100.7
San Diego ("Jack").
Dont miss the city lights start to turn on as the sun sets on the city at 6:07:00 PM!
You tuned into America's Finest City at exactly 12:08:21 PM local time.
